Internet addicts getting beaten to death?
Pure Pwnage graduating?
Hot or Not news from the up coming film The Runaways?
StarCraft II delayed... Again?
FIND OUT!
Chinese Teen Beaten to Death at Internet Addiction Camp:
"When the parents of sixteen-year-old Deng Senshan paid 7,000 yuan ($1,024) to send him to Guangxi Qihang Survival Training Camp
on Saturday in the hopes that it would help cure their son of his addiction to the Internet, they probably never imagined that he could be
dead less than two days later"
"Deng was reportedly beaten severely by three teachers at the camp after being scolded for "running too slowly." He was declared dead
Monday morning after arriving at a nearby hospital."
Pure Pwnage Graduating! TO BROADCAST TELEVISION!"Pure Pwnage, the (once?) popular web series that gave gamers the gift of such catchphrases as 'BOOM! Headshot!' and nuggets of wisdom
like 'Everybody knows you run faster with a knife' has made the leap from newfangled internet television into oldfangled broadcast television,
where it will become a full-on broadcast TV series that will start airing in its home country of Canada next year.
The series, which will air in 30 minute episodes like any other sitcom, will track the life, mocumentary style, of Jeremy, the star of the web
series and a person Giant Realm media is calling a '26 year old gamer version of Larry David.'"
"Pure Pwnage will air on Showcase in 2010."
Hot or Not? The Runaways!"Kristen Stewart (chick from Twilight) may star in a steamy bedroom scene with one of her costars. And, no, we’re not talking about Robert Pattinson.
According to “Life & Style,” the “Twilight” starlet will try her hand at some girl on girl action with 15-year-old Dakota Fanning in the upcoming
Joan Jett biopic “The Runaways.”
The script reportedly calls for Stewart, who plays Jett in the film, to swap spit with Fanning, who stars as singer Cherie Curie, resulting in their
clothes being “scattered all over their hotel room floor in one scene,” according to a source."
StarCraft II Getting Delayed... Again... Why? Blame Battle.Net"Predictably, yesterday's announcement that the long-awaited StarCraft II would be delayed resulted in much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
The good news, though, is that according to the official press release, the delay seems to not be related to SC2 itself, but to its close relationship
to the under-construction Battle.net. In the Activision-Blizzard Q2 Earnings conference call, Blizzard founder and president Mike Morhaime explained
the situation:"
- Spoiler:
**** new version of Battlenet is being integrated with Starcraft 2 more tightly than in any previous Blizzard game. Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battlenet for the launch of Starcraft 2. This means, as [Acti-Blizz CEO Bobby Kotick] mentioned, that we will not be ready to launch Starcraft 2 in 2009. We recognize that we only get one chance to make a first impression. It's much easier to retain a player that has a great initial experience than to bring them back after a mediocre one.
**** we could rush into beta and launch an inferior game and service experience this year, fixing that experience over time, our track record has proven that there is a far greater value for us and for our players in making sure that the experience is great right from the start.
"In other words, it'll be more like Xbox Live Silver - see your friends no matter what game they're in, chat with a D3 ladder-climbing buddy while
you're in a game of WarCraft 3: DotA, so on and so forth - than Xbox Live Gold.
In other interesting news, it looks like Blizzard is officially referring to the Zerg and Protoss installments of SC2 as expansions now.
To quote Morhaime, 'Once we release Starcraft 2 next year, we will move immediately on to the first of two expansions.'"
